EMOTIONAL JOURNEY IN SANYO

The name of the Sanyo region, facing Seto Inland Sea, is considered to be from Gokishichido (5 provinces and 7 circuits), which was a name for ancient administrativedivisions organized before the Taika Reforms in the mid-seventh century. This region is a geographical setting of such tales as folklore “Momotaro” as well as recent movies and dramas showing scenery that makes the audience want to visit. Sanyo is also well known for its production of high-quality craft sake. Harima in Hyogo prefecture is said to be the origin of sake brewing. Inthe bordering prefectures, Okayama and Hiroshima, as well, the tradition of sake brewing has been followed, using Yamada Nishiki, the king of sake rice.
